4DSOUND offers technology that enables to spatialise sound from any source or sources, onto any speaker configuration.

In 4DSOUND you work with virtual sound objects that exist in a cartesian space. As a user you do not consider the actual speakers, but approach the space as a whole, as an empty canvas.

The core of the 4DSOUND suite is the 4D Engine that processes audio and spatial data, and distributes spatial sound to a specific speaker grid.

The 4D Monitor is a separate app that visualises a 3D render of the virtual objects and other spatial data like paths and specific effects.

The 4D Engine has an open backend and receives spatial data through OSC (Open Sound Control).

The 4DSOUND suite provides extensive interfacing which enables to sequence complex spatialisation and intuitive live control. The suite is designed both for composition and live performance.

However, the open backend allows to create custom interfaces in any software or hardware environment that is able to send OSC. So we invite artists and developers to create their own interfaces (link to example projects).
